Unity Festival
 
 
Unity is a part of Multi-Cultural Manchester

The Unity Organising Group is part of the Multi-Cultural Manchester Consortium together with the Manchester Refugee Support Network and the City Council. For the past three years the consortium has been part of the 'Let's Celebrate' SRB programme administered by North West Arts Board.

The programme supported capacity building for community based festivals.

Aims:
to improve event management and promotion.
to give a profile to communities.
to encourage young people to develop skills.

Objectives:
to provide a core of expertise which each festival can draw on.
to enable collaboration between events.
to maximise resources.
to raise levels of skills in management committees, volunteers and participants.

Main activities
Co-ordinator employed by lead partner
Capacity building for the consortium and its membership
Training programme in partnership with City College/Mancat
- young people
- volunteers
Marketing support for events through Arts About Manchester
Event management support and development through City Council events team.
